Sum of you lot seem to have BBC World...so exactly what stuff do you need to get it and which satellites do you need to point at??? Does it cost a bomb?

To get BBC World, you need a 60 cm satellite dish pointing to Hotbird 13 degrees East, you need an analogue satellite receiver and then you need to tune into the frequency, which I don't know yet, i'll go and have a look!

Well I still kept my analogue receiver, I think there are a few net sites which you can tey, I haven't looked into it myself, the other way I suppose, is to ask your friends and relatives if they have an old analogue receiver that they are not using.

Any independent satellite installer within your area will install it for you, as I say it cost me £60 for the install.

Sorry, I couldn't be much help. maybe others within the forum will know more!

Yeah, you'll enjoy the channel, however just a little warning, the other channels are mostly Italian, Turkey etc, so you won't have much choice, unless of course you know your Italian!

If only I were so lucky in enjoying the entertainment provided by BBC World!Smile But I will soon be getting my broadband connection, which will hopefully improve the quality on the 56k modem!

BTW, I know this has been mentioned quite a while back but can you capture straight off the internet? Either using your TV card or some sort of software which will capture sound? The reason I ask is that I didn't pay much attention to the last threads which concentrated on it.

Gary.

I'm glad you are getting your broadband connection, Gary, since you like The World Today, i'd recommend watching the 7.00 GMT bulletin, where you'll be able to watch BBC World News(TWT style), World Biz Report and Sport Today!

Erm as to the second question, i'm not sure, I think RealPlayer the pay version has a recording facility, which records the material, but I am not too sure!

Then again, if you aren't anywhere where you can easily get a signal (i.e., the US), you can watch on the web with a high speed connection.

Oh I dread the day when TWT music comes on all BBC World bulletins.

Strange thing, I can get BBC World in three places: the net (well, broadband has been cancelled for me at this time Sad), digital television, and through a simulcast on CBC Newsworld. It would be strange to watch all three at the same time... and i have. it's great. Call me daft! Smile

Oh, and BBC Canada's future looks bleak. A report in a local newspaper says that the ratings are extremely low for the new digital channels that started in Canada this year - mainly because there's just too many of them. I don't think BBC Canada will last the full year. It doesn't matter... it was imitation BBC anyway! Mad.
