Doctor Who is returning on Saturday night at 7pm. It has been advertised everywhere, including massive billboards in London. Newspapers, radio and TV have been following the progress of the show since day one.

Who do we think will win out on Saturday night? And what viewing figures do we think Doctor Who will get?

Strictly Come Dancing beat Ant 'n' Dec and it wasn't as heavily advertised as Dr. Who, so it's gonna thrash Ant 'n' Dec big time.

I agree. With Ant and Dec, we've seen it all before, whereas Doctor Who is the old fave that everybody is talking about. I'll be watching the Doctor anyhoo.

I hope it'll get around 9 million viewers. Is that wishful thinking?

Well the first episode will of course get a massive auidence, even people like my mum who hated Dr. Who will probably watch it on Saturday. The question is will it manage to maintain that auidence figure?

The curiosity factor is huge, but its been off since 1989 so theres a whole new audience unaware of the show(myself included).

the youngsters and families seem to like good entertainment so maybe Takeaway will win??

Did Doctor Who used to go out at 7pm?

I have a feeling Dr.Who will top the 10 million mark.

Ant and Dec will drop a bit, but I sense genuine excitement about the return of the timelord.

Indeed, if Doctor Who didn't win then there would be something seriously wrong considering the BBC have been promoting it for months.

Whether it does as well from week 2 onwards will be the big question, and whether Strictly Graham Norton or whatever it is called does any good

As mentioned, if it doesn't beat Takeaway for the first ep, there's something not right. It definitely should be judged on if it maintains respectable ratings throughout the series.

I wonder if ITV have remotely considered moving Takeaway this week, given the hype over Dr. Who? They'd lose face initially by being seen to 'run scared' but it would at least appease the advertisers for one of their rating-banker shows.

It was traditionally scheduled around 5:30 or 6pm on a Saturday night before programmes such as the Generation Game or The Two Ronnies so it will be interesting to see how it performs as one of the BBC's "crown jewels" in the Saturday night line up.
