So has Isobel Lang just returned from a very extended maternity leave, or has she been demoted and been forecasting the BBC4 weather for a while?? She looks different - is her hair straighter??

Yes, it used to be frizzy.

John Kettley (I think thats how you spell it), I wonder why the BBC got rid of him/or he left because he was a good forecaster, up there in the realms of Michael Fish, Carol Kirkwood, and Rob McElwee

He's still at the BBC - he's Five Live's weather man, and you can hear him all through Breakfast and mornings. I've a suspicion he might be freelance, though, which would explain why he's able to do other things on other channels.

I also heard her on Radio 4 on Wednesday and did the forecast on the BBCi weather loop.

I seem to remember John Kettley was taken off air for a few months because of some muscle related problem in his hand that caused one particular weatherforecast to go wrong.

It's been a good few years since I heard that so details are a bit hazy but does anyone else know of this?

I was wondering who did the weather on todays one o clock news, because I saw John Hammond on News 24 at just before three O Clock and then at 25 past three Sarah Wilmshurst. Then on the six o clock news John was back, i was wondering if Sarah had to go home sick or something because usually the person who takes over from the morning/early afternoon person usually does the six and ten weather.

And on an unrelated note, did anybody see the trailers on MTV a few weeks ago with a mock weather forecast presented none other than John Kettley (I think thats how you spell it), I wonder why the BBC got rid of him/or he left because he was a good forecaster, up there in the realms of Michael Fish, Carol Kirkwood, and Rob McElwee

Recorded forecasts, not many forcasts on news24 are live ( exept 955am,1155am,255pm and 855pm and a few others) so the likelyhood is that John done his forcast live at 2.55 and someone put in sarah's earlier forecast at 3.25.

Surprised she hasn't been 'Dead Ringer' ed, or Ronni Ancona'd.

(Ronni's Scottish, isn't she ? Similar nose, blonde wig! Just the job!)

She's a strange one is Carol. I actually quite like her when she's presenting in the CSO studio, but I find her really annoying when she's doing the forecast outside on Breakfast. She just becomes so OTT (and a bit scarey) with her elongated "Goooooooood Mooooooorning"s and "llllllllllovely"s. I much prefer Helen Willetts on Breakfast who manages to appear a bit more relaxed, but still nice and friendly.

How do the BBC decide who gets the prime time weater reports or is it done on a rotation basis?? Alex Deakin and John Hammond seem to be flavours of the moment. Sarah Wilshurst seems to have disappeared, and Isobel Lang, who used to feature in many of the BBC's prime reports, on return from maternity leave seems to have been relegated. Or is it simply a rota basis??
