It has been confirmed on MHP-Chat, what happened, from someone who actually works in BBC ONE Presentation.

Darren Bett was running late, and forgot to put his mic on!

Poor Darren! After the Ten O'Clock News, there was no sound on the weather, and the C.A. had to do it for him!!

Did they fade him out to a static caption and an apology from the CA?

Cheers, Asa

Yes. They used the generic 'large symbols on orange backdrop' slide for the CA to give a brief summary. And she was quite cheery about it 'we'll actually get to see some sun tomorrow!!' She was sharp and to the point; no pre-amble about temperatures in Angora, no live OBs to Belfast in the fog, just straight down to business... 'Whether the weather be hot, whether the weather be cold...!' http://web.ukonline.co.uk/tv.home/forum/emoticons/cheesy.gif I wish the CA could do the weather a bit more often!!

I used to prefer BBC Weather for being a little bit more direct and less flash than ITV National Weather, but since they've tried to 'keep up with the Joneses', I've found myself watching an entire broadcast, at all the maps, weather advices, charts, etc. etc. and at the end I can't actually remember what he/she said the weather was going to be like!! Ridge of high pressure? Is that good or bad? It was 'sweeping southwards' - south westerly or south easterly??!

If it was south-easterly they would say south-easterly!

At its most simple High pressure means clear skys - thus less rain and hotter in summer and colder in winter.

I added a clip of the apology and weather summary to the TAKE TWO section of TV Room shortly after the broadcast this evening
