I'm on freeview, in south wales. And the news channel is frozen with a shot of Bradford & Bingley at 11:32, it's now 2:44.

Really?! Are the kids channels operating on Freeview?

CBeebies was but CBBC wasn't when I checked earlier.

Surprised at Wales taking the Scotland opts, I'd have expected it to be the London output if Llandaff is out of action.

I guess the North West stuff was RBS from Winter Hill on analogue.

I obviously can't get Radio Wales and Cymru on FM, but on Satellite Radio Wales is silent and Radio Cymru is on air with people speaking in English (AFAIK there is no English language output on Cymru - apologies if i'm wrong) - having said that one of the guys has an Irish accent. Confused
I think Cymru is broadcasting Radio 4 right now.

It is yes, I've just worked that out - you beat me too it. Wink Is Radio 4 being broadcast on BBC Cymru FM as well as satellite?

No - we've definitely got Lisa Gwilym as scheduled on Cymru FM in the North, and 'Money for Nothing' on Radio Wales FM.

On Freeview from Wenvoe, Mux 1 is still down. Surely there should be a backup system so that Wenvoe and other main transmitters can get a feed directly from London (or even from satellite) so that broadcasts can continue? Analog is still on but that will be gone from 2009-2010.

Which suggests that the radio studios are powered (conventionally or from a back-up supply) but the means of feeding the signal to London isn't.

It would appear so. Why they took Scotland instead of London, I don't know.

EDIT: 15:10 - I've just checked Analogue - BBC 1 is still showing London (as, of course, is Satellite) but I've now got RBS from Winter Hill on 2 (with NW teletext, as opposed to West earlier on - I don't know how and why this has happened!).

I can get Cbeebies. But I've just switched back to news channel and it's a blank screen now. I wonder if it's a problem with freeview... CBBC is also blank

I guess the other question is why BH Wales being down causes the distribution systems to collapse - I thought Energis could re-route things so that a version of the multiplex that is down got to Wenvoe et al?

Certainly in the old days when everything was on BT circuits they were able to re-route the transmitters in the South West to be fed directly from Bristol Comms rather than from Plymouth/Southampton (forget which) which had had its lines cut by a JCB.

Wonder if some sort of system to inhibit Wales taking RBS from the North West while The Superleage Show is on had anything to do with it? I believe there is some system to stop RBS during opt outs.

BBC1 Wales on Satellite now showing NI continuity.

The CA in Belfast welcomed viewers from Wales and said they were joining us for the afternoon - which suggests the problem is going to last for some time yet.

Quite possibly. NI continuity on 1 now - CA welcomed viewers in Wales who are 'with us for the afternoon'.

EDIT: sorry - simultaneous post! Did anyone catch analogue - BBC 1 Ceefax still showing London. One would have thought that if London were able to feed Wales with anything, it'd be Network, not NI, so perhaps analogue is still separate and Cardiff have managed to switch DSat to NI...

Switched away from Scotland because they're on a different schedule due to River City but NI's is similar to Wales's?
