Well this report that came out, to me, seems to be a load of balls. I'm really looking forward to the iPlayer and think it's a really good thing. Looks like Ofcom think differently, but I can't see that any of their arguements actually hold up.
Firstly, how would the DVD market reduce? If you can only watch a show 13 days after it's broadcast, it will not affect anyone wanting to rent a DVD released 6 months after broadcast. No more than the UKtv channels that Ofcom allow to broadcast repeats.
Secondly, if it is as popular as they predict then surely this supports the recent rise in license fee as you can watch all programmes that they produce eg if you want to watch programmes broadcast onBBC1, 2 and 4 at the same time then you can.
All of this 13 day thing is stupid anyway, when you can, I believe, keep anything recorded on Sky+ for as long as you like!
