What happened to BBC TWO before Sunday Grandstand? They played the 'triangle' ident until it ran out then a black screen and a Technical Fault Graphic with Music came up for about 3 mins! Does anyone know what happened?

timing cock up? Grandstand OB went down just as pres were going to them (assuming it was all OB)?

Incidentally would an OB edition of Grandstand be routed directly to pres or via TC5?

The OB scanner is routed direct to NC2, not via a studio gallery. The scanner output dropped to black during the junction before Grandstand. Pres went into breakdown holding routine until the circuit was restored.

I'm pleased to say that in Wales we hopped off onto the breakdown slide before our symbol dropped to black! Laughing

Simple, there was a technical fault.

Yeah, very informative. Rolling Eyes

BBC Two showed the Formation ident, announcer spoke and finished, ident ran to end, held on the last frame and faded to black and the breakdown slide popped up - was hoping they'd just run another ident instead! Spotted that Wales had a different caption, something about "temporary loss of programme" without the "2" in the corner. NI held on their ident (couldn't figure out which one it was!) before joining the network breakdown caption.

Nothing to do with this at all, but I've now been told about 2 things on BBC2 that I've missed today! The other was a really badly photoshop'd pair of Big Ben clock hands, on a holding slide for BBC Parliment (the announcement was re "If", apparently.)
