And what about the regionalised versions?. Might look good though if the region name is under BBC TWO as present.

Maybe there'll be some clue in the 2W idents to be launched on Monday eh?

Putting TWO and TWO together...

Would it be the case that the Corporation expected to get the go-ahead for BBC THREE and BBC FOUR early enough to get them launched in time for christmas, and planned to put a generic look in place when this happened, but has been forced to do the BBC TWO makeover now because its christmas idents have already been done in the new style?

BTW, will there be a new Learning Zone ident?

The launch of 2W and Sign TWO next week should be interesting...

I wonder if the trailers are up for a change as well?

Here is a mock of what the trailers may look like

I that if the trailers will be like that, it will be better - referring to where the lettering is. I think the placement of the logo in top right is better too. Or is that you just making it up as an example of a possibility?

And on the subject of a logo. When analogue is switched off, I think BBC ONE and BBC Two should have their DOGS on screen.

I know this will cause anti- DOG remarks but I like the idea of having DOGs!

I don't know! But from you saying that I think you don't.

It's television 'presentation' isn't it? I mean, for example, people were really excited when Sky News was relaunched cos they wanted to see the logo and new DOGs etc.

I have - after having analogue then digital for about 9 years - just got used to seeing DOGs and expect them to be there.

On the whole no. I'd like to think that broadcasters give us the credit for being able to press a button to see what channel we're watching. If a DOG has to be used - then do it discretely!

C5 introduced a DOG to show them off from the other terrestrial channels. They learnt from viewers complaints and turned down the intensity but it has stayed - that's probably half of C5 problem! I personally would prefer if the '5' and the circle was in grey and the rest transparent rather than a square.

MTV/BBC Choice abuse DOGs like nothing. MTV currently has a stupidly oversized animation DOG for their music awards.

BBC Choice have DOGs to show off a themed evening. Of course, original programming would be far better but obviously their first choice is a DOG.

Play UK have learnt from their mistakes and removed the URL.
BBC Knowledge? Well at least their DOG will shrink when Four appears.

I'd like to think that the three most popular British tv channels don't feel the necessity to introduce DOGs on digital. Then again, I probably said the same thing about End Credit Promos...

Let's see how 'good' our newest DOG is, when it appears on Monday.

Cheers, Asa

The 5 DOG is actually quite useful when tuning a new TV, and I don't really notice it when watching Channel 5.

well all i can say is im very dissapointed!
the bbc instituted a brilliant branding strategy in the early 90's - and refreshed it in 97 (the bbc 1 globe wasnt flexible enough). they were carefull to institute branding in a consistant way in 97 and it has certainly paid off (nationally and internationally) - they did this in a proffesional way too. they brought local & national radio into line, bbc news, regional news etc.

but the whole strategy is falling apart - LDN went indevidual, bbc 2 is going in a diiferent direction(if the position of the |B|B|C|TWO text changes - it makes bbc ones idents obsolete)

the nature of the two channel's idents was such they could be refreshed every now and then - new ones added, old ones removed ... it could have lasted another 5 years easy!

depending on when they do rebrand - the last chance to see the regional idents will be the 11th or 15th

change for the sake of change - thats all i can say

BBC One is being relaunched in january, and then there is BBC 3 and BBC 4 on the way, they will all follow the new style.
