Can someone clear up this? Is BBC TWO keeping the '2' symbol, or completely scrapping it?

For Monday, they should bring Firecracker out of retirement. Well, it's not like it's going to be seen again on BBC Two and is already available with the current BBC logo and in widescreen. Come on BBC, you know you want to!
And bring back some old BBC1 symbols too! That Cumbria one, Felixstowe and that Irish one with the islands.
Of course us asking the BBC anything is like getting blood out of a stone - they are a law-unto themselves. Do they care what the viewers want? NO!! (then they wonder why veiwers are deserting the Beeb!)

RUBBISH! Where on earth do you get that from?? Have you even
looked
at BARB viewing figures? Typically you're just pulling statements like that out of your ar*e.

The Barb figures for the BBC are nothing special. Compared to ITV which does have a much smaller budget than the BBC, they are certainly giving the Beeb a run for its money. You'd think the BBC with their BILLIONS of pounds they get each year they would be able to batter the crap out of ITV. But no. The BBC likes to waste money on starting up new channels all the time, but the thing is they dont have any good programmes on them!
Comedy on the BBC? - I've been to funnier funerals!

do you have any info for us gavin

Just how do budgets affect viewing figures? I think you should justify exactly what you mean.
Look at the comparative low cost of producing docu-type shows like 'Animal Hospital'. Although it doesnt interest me personally, that show has huge popularity, but doesnt require sets to be built, actors and writer to be paid etc. The same goes for 'Changing Rooms'. Again, regardless if this is your own personal taste you can't deny its viewing figures. ITV spend more on similar shows which are frankly guff. IMHO.
Brings me back to the question I asked you a long time ago. Do you even pay a licence fee? No. I do mate, and its worth it.

And you'd 'Gladly sell the entire contents of your house, and all your belongs to help the BBC'
The BBC is 80 years old next year - I doubt it will be the same BBC in 20 years time when its 100. It will probably be funded by adverts and sponsorships and owned by AOL-TimeWarner-MSN-BBC conglomerate! tsk!

will this relaunch mean alterations to sevaral of the existing idents (like they did in 97) and the addition of several new personality ones ... or a complete overhaul, like bbc 1 did in 97?
i would favour option 1 as they are now so well known - like the channel 4 block idents - thuogh i suppose somebody is trying to justify their employment by making work:(

As i understand it, they are removing the old idents, and bringing in about 7 completely new ones.
they wernt happy with all the personalities, so they are making a consistant style, with personaility...
till i see the idents, i cant describe it any better.

ok i will spill most of what i know...
The existing BBC 2 idents are going, and new ones coming in, there will be about 7 of them and will be similar to each other, but each will have its own personailty.
The launch is either the 12th or the 17th, the layout of the idents will be like my mocks but the logo is sligtly smaller than mine
and is on the right hand side of the screen.
the feeling is there are too many different 2's at the moment, and they want to have a consistant style to BBC TWO but have personality...
I know nothing about the trailers, i'd luv to find out, but some forum members refuse to comment...
so thats all i know, now let me be damned if anyone is repremanded over this.
