The BBC have obviously forgot all about their generic aim in '97 and worrying too much about freshness and individualism (us youngsters do grow up you know!) and coming up with all sorts of bouncy-boingy cubes and three-dimensional computer-graphics...
I'd stick to the ol' mechanical 2s meself They were filmed with a camera and model, and look way pukka than the ******* **** they're making today...

I'm still very suspicious about these purple (it's blue I tell you!) squares.
I still suspect this is a mock ident based on a clean still from L-N.

I see BBC TWO is proudly secretly becoming Sky One with these 'Now, Next, Later' boards. Please, Auntie - see sense: it looks cheap!!
I wonder what the Christmas ident will look like this year on TWO then - they might have snow piling on the top of the purple/blue box!! How sweet!

If this is the look, with the coloured box, maybe all you people bemoaning the loss of the 2s are being a little shortsighted, maybe we'll get a whole 4 channels of personality idents? A '4' with reading glasses on, a '3' going clubbing - think of the possibilities
Apparantally there will, at start be only 4 versions:

All the channels will follow the 'square box in bottom corner' style, and the same trailer and menu style, but it is only BBC Two and BBC 2W that are done yet, the other channels are being rebranded in the new year
along with the launch of BBC 4 and the kids channels.
my only concern is what will news 24 look like in this style?!?!

I think that it could lead to a neatening up of the current News 24 graphics, as I have shown in a little mock up.
Notice the change of font and the square DOG. Much neater than at present, if I do say so myself.
Now I like that one. And the font is much better too.

I dont think there will be much change to the on screen look, the URL is going thats all i know of for sure, i was thinking more along the lines of, what will the idents look like...

Indeed, that was a comment made by Terry Wogan quite recently about the BBC, and seems particularly apt at this time.
So now we've seen two examples - they're obviously going to be rather boring and all look virtually the same. I'll reserve judgement until Monday, but bear in mind I was horrified when the 2s first came out in 1991, but quickly grew to love them! So I might change my mind...
