I've designed a mock ident in Flash - but please bear in mind the fact that I suck at Flash!!
It's based on one of the 1991 idents: blade, but with the new-style logo on it ... the way I am assuming it will be displayed from what I've heard here!
cool - whats to stop bbc 2 from reworking a selection of existing idents to the new style? as theyre gonna need sensible ones (like blade), comedy ones - general ones etc. - having only 4 idents wont leave much choice will it?

Yeah, between 1991 and 1997 the BBC logo was on the '2' idents right from the start, but know it appears after the main action or just a few seconds. I only noticed this a few weeks ago, when I was watching the original version of Powder and saw from the start that the BBC logo was already there, I hadn't picked up on this before! The first picture is Powder from 1991-1997 and the second pic is from 1997-Current!

No, actually the first ident - Paint - didn't feature the BBC logo (goody goody). Hopefully the last won't either!

The more I read about these new idents, the more I don't want them to change. So the nasty purple box IS going to be there, and there ARE only four versions! NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

Whilst I do adore the current lot, it is time for a change. The current idea has been going ten years, and they've got to keep it fresh. Remember there was an outcry when the multicolor C4 logo was chopped? And that one had been on 14 years. Things change - BBC1 changed ages ago (97) so it's been coming... no disrespect to the 2's tho... respect to Powder, Glass, Excalibur, Blade and all the rest.

Your sig quote 'If it aint broke, breakt it' is well right regarding to this RW. My first impressions on these new idents are, well, they suck! I shall have to withhold further comment until I see the new idents, but as far as I can tell now, the previous idents were far more better.
