Well, I think Channel 4 have shown the way in branding, and these, although better than the yellow, personality 2's, still feel like a bit of a cheap imitator.

That's not to say I don't like them, I do, but I feel that they could've been better. Nice to see teal back though.

Does the TWO in the green box look as terrible on analogue as it does on freeview? Horrible blocky, almost zigzag-y lettering.

The trailers won't really work so well until the actual content starts having the final frames designed specifically to work with the "window". The Graham Norton trailer, where the woman on the left is completely obscured at the end, is a good example of a trail that doesn't work at all well with the new style.

Anyway, the coffee ident (I refuse to learn to spell cappuccino, the BBC made me learn to spell capoeira and I'm not being their bitch a second time) is quite good EXCEPT for keeping the template thing in vision throughout. Yes, I know the arty-farty theme of the idents is "window on the world", but I'm saying the theme is crap.

Here's how they do the 2 in Norway. Compare and contrast.

The way the end-board forms up at the end of the trails is *so* Channel 4, you could be forgiven for thinking they were related channels.

So far though, I rather like Cappucino - and we now see how the 2 is a 'window', although the boxed logo still looks terrible. Now I've seen it on my telly as well, I've only just realised how it sits way too high up on the screen, especially on the trails.

As for last night, nice that they gave the yellow 2s some kind of send-off, although the montage could have been done so much more nicely without all that cheesy horizontal wiping. I don't see why they couldn't have played more of each of them - it's not like anyone would complain about Pages From Ceefax starting a little late (with the exception maybe of Simon L).

Well, the morning has arrived, and what does the good old Auntie 2 give us?

The Coffee Ident...
to start off the mid-morning programme...

I'm heading to Starbucks...
Anybody with me?

PS: Overall, I really like the idea of the fact that BBC is using the variations of each idents. I think it's perfect in order to set the tone of each programme introduction.

Videos from the 10am junction:-

BBC2 - Promo
BBC2 - Cappucino

It was nice that we got both a veiled acknowledgement of the new look, and extended playout this time. When the 2001 set launched, it was done so quietly, due to being put out before the childrens stuff.

Agreed about the promo style being very Channel 4 mind!

I said I would and I am. I have taken back my comments of disike towards the new idents. I'm in love with them! Does anyone know when the blank version of the new two is coming out. (so people can mock them)

I never thought I'd say this, but the 2001 look was so much better than this one. I just can't get into it.
