Sorry this is off-topic but how weird are those Paramount Comedy idents on that website... the current Comedy Central idents and logo (in the UK) but with the Paramount wordmark and Paramount Comedy name...

I saw that too. Were these for the Spanish channel or was the Paramount Comedy name originally supposed to be kept here?

The number plates in the Car Alarm ident give a clue...

Well, no, not really. They could just have filmed the idents in the UK and used them elsewhere like in Spain, or it could have originally been Paramount Comedy in the UK. No different to filming shows in South Africa that are meant to be set in North America.

Actually, I read that comment as being nothing to do with a visual similarity, but current BBC 2 & post-1996 C4 respectively being in a similar situation in their individual cases: the figures not being used for their original functions.

Yes, that's the point I was trying to get across, though perhaps not as well as I would have liked.

Anyway, I've found what would appear to be a rejected rebrand proposal with three ident concept stills. Two look very interesting, the other bears an unfortunate likeness to an "ITV Hearts" ident.

Nice find, but ultimately I'm happy they've been rejected as they're basically the same as what we have now - an ident with the 2 as it's centre which isn't anywhere near as nice as the original sets.

Is there any hard info on an actual upcoming BBC Two rebrand out? I've skimmed through the entire thread and have only found some (relatively old) pitch proposals, that certainly are interesting, but don't really live up to the thread title.

Some time after Paramount Comedy became Comedy Central in the UK, the Spanish version of Paramount Comedy adopted the same idents and a similar logo, but held on to its original name for whatever reason. The more UK-specific idents (such as the one with the Gherkin) were probably excluded. I believe the Italian version of Comedy Central also adopted the UK idents.

I originally posted this in the main BBC Two thread and it was split from that, so a mod/admin put that title instead. I do have the power to change it though as, according to the forum software, I am the thread starter.

Care to go into more detail? While there's a couple of bits I'm not sure about (mostly timing based), I like the concept and (most of) the execution.

They may well have done. However (possibly in post-production), the UK ident has cars with UK plates and the Spanish ident has Spanish plates.
