i recorded bbc two yesterday and they had a few techincal problems:
1. at the end of a schools programme about india the end with the bbc logo and roman numberials just froze and there no slide or annoucer just a black scrren.
2. when the remote control ident was shown there was no annoucement (nothing to do with me!) so there was a clean ident of the remote control ident instead!
I know it's not BBC Two but did anyone see the fault this morning on BBC One? The promotions finished, then the Skateboarders ident played, clean, before cutting out to a complete black screen. After about four seconds the announcer (sounded a bit like Peter Offer) gave his usual pre-recorded announcement that we were joining a Breakfast Briefing before cutting to Breakfast, where the clock was on 05.59 for about a second and then a usual opening.
Am I correct in saying that this was due to the playout server allocating the right length for the junction except started too early meaning it cut out too early, ie. before Breakfast?

A guess would be...
that they came off News 24 manually a few seconds earlier than expected.... and that the BBC 1 director did not (or was not able to) add extra time on to the Skateboard ident to make up for the short fall. The ident then fell to black after it played for its scheduled duration and remained there until cutting to Breakfast. The Breakfast clock displaying 05:59 may just be that that clock is slightly slow, or perhaps BBC 1 cut to the Breakfast studio a second early.
Not the only shenanigans yesterday. On BBC2, the Ceefax slide was discoloured at 6am (pink instead of yellow logo) then a momentary picture loss occurred. Eighteen minutes in Ceefax "mixed" over a still of Bounce.
Once Ceefax ended the music cut out, screen went blank then trail faded up (a few seconds in).
Why at 6am would an announcer need to be in? It's just a waste of the licence fee when a simple link to Breakfast on 1 and Ceefax on 2 can be recorded the night before. It's not like many people notice faults at that hour anyway. Most of us just like to sleep!

But why, at 6am, was the announcer not live?
Typical! The one day I sleep through my alarm it's the day where we get a fault! Which ident was used to introduce Ceefax that morning and was that working correctly?
