A mess yes, even down to the logo, I've seen numerous Gill Sans 'TWO' box logos in the past couple of days, especially from BBC Sport trailers.
Such a shame. Surely it can't be just us pres geeks who notice the difference, surely there's someone at the BBC who cares...

Worth mentioning that I just happened to catch the start of this morning’s BBC2 programme FIFA World Cup 1998 (at 8:15am), and they showed Copper Cutout (Wales and NI both also using the network feed). The continuity announcement, much like during 90s night, included the line
"… this was how BBC2 looked back then"
. Wonder what they showed with yesterday’s programme, which covered 1994!
It's nice to see it on screen again, but it feels odd that they're now showing it before any old programme that was made in the 90s. At this rate they may as well admit that the current presentation is crap and go back to showing them full time
I've said it before and I'll say it again. Swap the current roster with the 1997 versions with the Gill Sans logo and they really wouldn't look out of place in 2014.
I guess network don't have any copies with the 1997 logo then? A shame.
Still, nice to see them.
I'd like to think they picked the 1991-1997 versions with the old BBC logo to emphasise that they're for a nostalgic purpose. Anything with the 1997 logo might make people think they're new idents if they're not familiar with them.

The Afternoon Classics menu slides were shown on BBC2 at 1:00pm, so Season 3 does, indeed, begin this afternoon.

Yet it just seems forgotten about, Why is it being left to rot? Surly the BBC could look in the cupboard and had a proper afternoon
