BBC2 NI just showed Fluffy Dog, before 'Allo! 'Allo!. Correct BBC TWO blocks logo with this one!

The slanted logo could have correctly (save for Widescreen) been used:

Yes; it's a 1993 symbol. In the 'classics' theme, would be appropriate to use the older logo where applicable.

I quite like how these past couple of days have seen the additional 1990s symbols saved for the last junction in the block!

The 1991 logo looks a bit messy though with the cropped widescreen versions of the idents (especially with that 'Northern Ireland' type), the 1997 logo looks a lot cleaner.

ISTR one of the reasons the BBC dropped the slanted logo and acoompanying italic font was it never really looked centred or properly justified, especially with longer lines of text. In the end they justified it at an angle descending from the first losenge.
The worst offender was (and ignore the dots, I'm just trying to show how it actually looked on screen)

I can't find a screengrab of that, but this example also shows how it looked:

Those 90s idents are beautiful. They're still wonderfully modern to me. Wish they'd show Silk at some point.

I try not to look through rose-tinted spectacles but I still think they haven't been, and probably won't be, bettered since.

I try to not look through rose-tinted spectacles too but I can't help but think they're as powerful as they ever were. Of course, the only way to know for sure would be to have my memory of these idents erased and then have someone introduce them to me and see how I react to them. That said, I don't think you can ever look truly objectively at art and design. It'll always be about personal interpretation.

BBC2 NI showed BBC2's 40th Anniversary ident from 2004, before Are You Being Served.

Does this mean the end of any further BBC2 1991-2001 idents? Crying or Very sad

Neither did I. It suddenly doesn't look very likely I'll get to see Firecracker, Diary, Silk and other favourites of mine, unless it is a one-off from the 2001-2007 era, chosen because it has several classic idents making an appearance within the 2's. The BBC2 personality ident era just didn't really appeal to me at all.
