Do correct me if I've overlooked anything.

You've missed the blatantly obvious: it's a re-creation - not the original. It's meant to induce feelings of nostalgia, not concerns about how many lines out of alignment the elements are.

Having got my fingers burned by the pres guys at BBC NI (with fair reason) after commenting on the differing rotation of the snowflake ident to the original (notified to me by someone else, and passed on by myself with all good intentions), you really have to take these idents for what they are: lovingly made re-creations by people with a passion for the past who want to show those idents to the current audience. They're certainly not frame-for-frame duplicates - otherwise they'd be 4:3 for a start...

If you believe it to be a recreation, then that's fine to hold that view, and I said that I welcome corrections (which, indeed, I do welcome), but I fail to understand why you have made your points with use of such a tone. It's no doubt borne out of your short-temperedness because of other recent enquiries, unconnected to anything I've commented about, which you, yourself, have decided to make.

Actually I think Andrew was just telling you not to overthink it to prevent you getting in the same situation he did.

Hello, it's Christmas. Good will to all men, and Pres enthusiasts!
Thanks go to those who kindly, and brilliantly, recreated these two old symbols.
Much appreciated guys. Keep 'em coming.
London Lite, Paul Clark and Steve in Pudsey gave kudos

BBC2 Northern Ireland just showed the Christmas 1985 ident, before Cagney and Lacey today, shown in its original 4:3 aspect ratio.

Anyone know why The Allo Allo Christmas Special due to have gone out this evening was replaced very late in the schedules by a Comedy Connections re-run?

Don't know, and even though the BBC's own online schedule information for BBC2 has, today, shown Comedy Connections at 7:35pm, nobody told Delroy Haynes, who was heard to say, during the end credits of Are You Being Served (at about 4:30pm today on BBC2) "...with a bun in the oven, a new problem for Rene, in festive 'Allo 'Allo, tonight at 7:35..."

He may have been pre-recorded. Sometimes this happens.
