That was sure special!!! I hope there'll be captures of tonight's sendoff on BBC2 England as I'm certain there'll be a longer compllation than what we have already seen!

I'm hoping that BBC 2 England will do something special for the 2's when it's time to closedown, however, kudos to BBC 2 NI for their send off. Cool Very Happy

What time is 'BBC2 England' closing tonight?

BBC2 closedown 3.30am after Red Bull Express I should think.

It'll probably be on YouTube anyway.

"Bada-bah-bah."

Just watched the 'BBC2 NI' montage provided by Asa...wasn't the 'BBC2 40 Years/Invisible Walls Ident' special! I love the fact you hear the 2001-2007 theme plus the "Paint" soundtrack and the "Fireworks" soundtrack merged together in one! I hope ‘BBC2 England' do the same kind of montage! And by the way...loving the new look...music and visuals are very good in the new idents. Shown them to "non-ident mad" friends tonight and they we're very impressed. “Mirror" and "Seascape" we're liked the most. And the music on "Sunroof" and “Cappuccino” were liked...especially the female singer in the first few seconds of “Sunroof” and the 'day time’ style music in “Cappuccino“. Well done BBC2...you might be onto a winner!

Oh well it appears that BBC TWO (network) are doing something... will it be the same as BBC TWO NI though?

For anyone still up and browsing this messageboard... you might be interested to know that there will be a BBC TWO Ident Montage at just after 03.30 this morning on BBC TWO.

It will be during the junction between the film RED BALL EXPRESS finishing and PAGES FROM CEEFAX starting. It is likely to last for several minutes and will showcase some of the idents that have been used over the last five years.

As always, the timing is only approximate and is subject to change or cancellation.

Hope you get chance to watch it!

Goodnight

Guesswork, but I get the feeling it could be longer than NI's version, with a full ident to either open or end it (probably the latter), and a 8 - 10 second snippet of each ident with its specific soundtrack as it appears (as opposed to a single piece of ident music accompanying the whole bunch as was done in NI). I don't think the special 40 Years version will be featured on Network, however. That is how I'm guessing they would do it.

The fabulous Michael Selby Symbols Montage TM strikes again eh?!

I do sometimes wonder if he hadn't made that Balloon montage back in 2002 would we have this almost traditional send off for our symbols? Or has someone told "themmuns upstairs" where to buy our anoraks?

Splendid send-off too Paul!

Please forgive me for this outrageous public congratulation. I shall retire now. So long... and enjoy the TV Pres. of tomorrow!

It has occurred to me that it's somewhat ironic that the maginificent 40 Years Ident which aired earlier, essentially shows the passing 2's giving us a glimpse into the various eras of identities past...

...You could say, each 2 is a "Window on the world" of BBC TWO symbols gone by.

But it does make you think, if only in 2001, just ahead of those classic 2's coming to an end, a pres anorak in continuity had the idea of giving those 10 years worth of symbols a jolly good send-off?...

For all the different sequences that came and went, 8 minutes+ could have easily been filled with a stream of idents, starting with Paint and ending with Wave Night, including special idents along the way. It would've been glorious, the Grandaddy of all montages Laughing - But alas, it wasn't to be.

Well a rather interesting compilation by "RIchard".... shame they were only brief glimpses of the idents - and also shame some of them had the website address on the top left corner and Subtitles indicator on the top right!
