BBC Two: new idents from Sunday 18 February

One is called chase, so I imagine the pace will be very quick with those ones.

Well, it did say "watch the whole series and choose for yourself", so someone probably c**ked up in not adding them to the media player.

I absolutely love Mirror - I can really see that leading into Newsnight - the trails made by the cars' lights even look like the Newsnight data trails.

Having said that, it would also make a good "break filler" at downtime in the place of Pages from Ceefax ... I might do that at some point in the near future.

'Chase and 'sunroof' are so poor! I hate them!

I can imagine these new idents being cut off before the logo has even faded in on some programmes where it’s a short junction!
At least with the current yellow idents, almost all of them work even with a 5 second junction.

Still hate the 'boxed' logo! I hope in a few months/years BBC two re-edits them to remove the unsightly box and replace it with a different style logo!

What is the man in Chase being chased by? *hums UFO theme tune under breath*

Mirror & Seascape are excellent.

Sunroof is alright-ish, Chase is odd in the sense that they zoom back into the 2 so the finished image isn't of the full 2

Can someone capture the streams and upload them as "proper" video files?

I like the idea behind the sunroof one, at first it looks like a normal sunroof then you realise its the logo, just a shame it looks pants by the end. The others look ok but it's nothing amazing really is it. Considering that times and technology have moved on since the 90s I was hoping for a bit better (I mean Channel 4 pulled it off).

I can hardly agree with what the mediawatch guy said about filming them for £70, but I can't help thinking if they'd have made these idents using models as they did in the 90s they could have got a similar effect for half the price - or maybe I just want to see them revert to the 90s idents and stings

The more I see, the less confident I am. They are all pretty poor!

I had high hopes for the mirror ident but it's pretty disapointing, while Sunroof, like Zoetrope, ultimately just looks like a piece of paper held over the camera with a 2 cut out of it!

Seascape isn't bad - but isn't brilliant, while the polar tent variation is slightly better than the other one - but not much.


Out of all of them I'd put Chase as my favourite so far as the 2 is a bit more involved in the action and there are hints of it's old cheeky self, providing a hideaway for the bloke being chased.


The problem though is these "2"s have absolutely no personality unlike both the current set and many of the idents from the 90's.

mirror is good and i like seascape

I also quite like chase - it's different with the zooming in, but in sunroof the camera is too shakey

and contrary to what some people said, the music is ok for all of them, easy for the announcer to butt in at any time and they won't cut off before the box because they're quite short anyway
