The thing I like about that particular continuity is that they let the symbol play out in full even though the announcement had finished six seconds earlier, something which on network would be incredibly rare to see.

Absolutely right - Bounce being a great ident to use as they could technically hold on the final 'empty' frame forever! Aside from getting home a few seconds earlier, there's really no excuse for not playing out longer versions in full into Ceefax and even N24 if an appropriate slot can be found.

At least that slight cockup was acknowledged with good humour and made it clear Paul was very much in front of a microphone at gone 1am Very Happy

Edit: Just noticed that there is a Ceefax tonight at 01.30-02.00: hopefully there will be a good ident with it not being a regular Ceefax slot.

Do you think anyone does requests/bribery?! I've never seen a decent length Flipped Fish Long Wink

Secondly I was wondering if NI digital uses the menus as often or is it mainly NI analogue?

It all just depends upon the demands of the schedule and the director/announcer on duty.

I hadn't realised that there was still a requirement for split analogue/digital - do the two services have different schedules like BBC Two Wales and BBC 2W?

The separate schedules have been phased out in NI and the split will end before too long.

Just seen the Predator ident before Greenmount Garden on NI (Sans NI branding)...

I thought this was only for RHS event coverage? Since I have yet to see a similar occurence on Network, perhaps NI are treating Predator as more of a regular ident?

I've also noticed that BBC 2W's ending version of Logo, where the 2W is flipped over to reveal "BBC TWO Wales", uses a backwards-played animation, changing the timing of the 2's actions...yet the audio/sound effects are still the same as the standard version... Confused

EDIT: Caught a Sting just a moment ago...

RM; 5 sec

Anyone know how long this (and/or any others) have been used for? In general, doesn't seem very common.

I'm not sure how long that one has been going for as that version of Screen Clean was different to the one I saw earlier in the year. The one I saw was pretty much the opening few seconds of Screen Clean Short with the sound of the Two blowing on the screen and then scrubbing it clean.

The Screen Clean animation has been in use in NI since the introduction of the present yellow branding.

I saw it being used for a gardening show on Network the other week so it seems like it's very much up for grabs.

Did you cap that sting on Network? If so, maybe someone is actually reading this - I don't think I've ever seen a sting on Network BBC Two outside of Christmas.

Nice to see something a bit different though. Makes you wonder just how many they have to choose from.

That clears things up then!

It would have been nice to have seen it elsewhere, but that recording was from NI.

It's yet another element that Network seem to have just forgotten about altogether. When it comes round, I wonder if they'll start discarding bits of AMV's package too, after a while? Rolling Eyes

Good old NI...and there was me thinking I would never catch this ident again! Shocked What a pleasant surprise:

Full run no less -- Monsieur, you are spoiling us! Laughing

I don't know why the crowd version was taken out of use in the first place - the normal version is in regular use, why not this one?

I always thought it made no sense why they have the original version in regular use but not this version with the crowd as I think this one is just as good as the other. Then again, I'm basing this comment on Network pres, which has done this thing before like with Drum and Self Portrait (only long and never short).

I saw a handful of stings once on network one evening outside of Christmas, the ones I can remember being Screen Clean, Fish and Logo Flip though I might have seen one of Fire, though I could just be making it up!

Well I'm sure it's happened before. I remember the discussion I started on the Ice Cube ident last summer asking would it return becuase one would use ice cubes in the hot weather and then the next time we had hot weather it suddenly appeared. Coincidence?
