Right...
Well, looking at these "2" it still doesn't give much away as to how the rest of the set could follow audio-wise; there may be no musical signature at all but we can't be sure until we compare them.
The logo is something of a blot on the landscape as the box at least doesn't really lend itself well to the idents, stuck in the corner - but I'm glad it's not constantly there, and instead fades in once the final shot of the '2' is decided upon, which I think works as well as could be done with it.
This Festival version of Tent is visually nothing too fancy; the close-ups of it being unzipped is a nice idea, although I think they could've improved it once the '2' is revealed by having the scene in time-lapse.
I understand that the soundtrack for that one is just an elec guitar piece that moves into crowd ambience and not much else, to reflect the outside picture, but being scene-specific, there might be favourable soundtracks in the other two versions - Perhaps the Beach version will have uptempo Caribbean music!
I find Zoetrope is a lot more whimsical than anything seen in a BBC 2 sequence for many years now, and yet it all comes together well. Looking forward to seeing and hearing it when broadcasted proper, as these files do seem quite lossy. I do detect something slightly late-90's special 2-esque about the sequence...If other soundtracks have that sort of feel, I might be quite content with the set as a whole, as if they get the mood of the music wrong on an ident it does spoil it. For example, I think the recent BBC 2 Xmas Ident ('05 / '06) was visually nice, but the music didn't do it justice.
One thing about the Zoetrope ident though, I sense a slight chance this could *possibly* end up getting complaints from the people who didn't like BBC 1's 'Tai Chi Rotation' dancer ident because it made them go dizzy!
I'm guessing that with retention of the box logo, BBC 2W will continue its 'green box logo that becomes part of the scene' idents, then. And as overnights go, since I've heard nothing of a change, I assume Lambie-Nairn's Learning Zone 'Acorn', born in 1997, will continue to live on and reach the milestone of a decade in service?
