Oh balls, missed that. Any chance of an upload please Paul? I'm trying to work out how the 2 goes from being in the corner to in the centre of the screen, and larger. So that's Fish, Invisible Walls and Self Portrait that I know have menus, any others? Maybe Sticky Label or Big Read?
In terms of the new 2, definitely good to see it break out of yellow and return to some live action. I guess by keeping the 2 it was always a sensible progression to take it a step further than just filming another set of the 91-01 style and having the 2 as a cutout (ok, 'window'
) is pretty good and gives lots of scope.
Two things could let this rebrand down. 1) the music. Mirror looks stunning from the picture to me but if the audio is just some bike noise then it's going to let it down. Similarly with Seascape - just crashing waves won't do it justice. And 2) the additional presentation material - slides, trail design, menus, whatever they may be they've got to be visually interesting. Remember the days where the slides used to contain part of the ident?
Nice to see the purple disappearing but shame about the box staying for me. There's nothing wrong with going back to the centre of the screen, boxless. It's going to make the "Northern Ireland" text look tiny.
Oh and I'll re-encode that Liquid News clip when I get some time. If only it was around today...!
Cheers, Asa
Liquid News died with Christopher Price as far as I was concerned. What a great presenter he was.
The new 2's were limited by their colour scheme and also because they were computer genrated, the older 2's were generated in so many different ways. And as I've said before these new 2's look closer in style to the sting 2's rather than the 2's used to introduce the programmes.
Far more room for scope with this new idea and I hope they add to the set fairly regularly. I also think TV companies should launch with at least 10 new idents when they make a change over.
Does anybody not want to record these computer 2's before they go or is it just me?
