I'm simply saying, and would you not agree, that the differences between the old '2' (let's take Steam for example) and the new '2' (Mirror for example), are generally a lot greater than the changes among strictly the old 2's, as are the changes from ident to ident in the new set, in comparision to the old ones which, while not identical as you and I have said, were overally more consistent?

Totally agree Paul. Unfortunately though, your views are not appreciated by the vast majority of people on here, who appear to have only a superficial appreciation for channel branding and presentation.

Sadly, there's very rarely any useful debate or discussion around here. There are one or two exceptions thankfully; but 95% of what you see here is just puerile tosh.

Y'know the daily mail article, to me it looks as if it jumps to talk about the bbc 1 idents halfway through

It has already been pointed out, in the post where the link is given. Honestly.

Anyway, I find it amazing that they have seen the idents but fail to realise that such a sloppy error is within it.

There are some fantastically funny comments on here now!
My favourite is the person who says ITV is...wait for it... punctual .
Deary me, when was the last time you saw an ITV program that started on time!

And as I guessed, my comment was not published as it was against the views of the editorial.

Amzing how it can be called 'news'. I always thought that 'news' was supposed to be fair and balanced.

The Daily Mail doesn't count as news. Neither does the Daily Express , the Sun , the News of the World or any other tabloid for that matter.

I was actually thinking of sending off the Daily Mail's careless cutting and pasting to Private Eye ...

I don't buy the national papers, far too opinionated. I only buy my local paper. Sometimes it can be a bit boastful, but its always fair when telling a story.

Agreed, Private Eye would love material like especially if it's Daily mail related (or Daily Express & Daily Star related errors as well) Very Happy

Oh balls, missed that. Any chance of an upload please Paul? I'm trying to work out how the 2 goes from being in the corner to in the centre of the screen, and larger. So that's Fish, Invisible Walls and Self Portrait that I know have menus, any others? Maybe Sticky Label or Big Read?

In terms of the new 2, definitely good to see it break out of yellow and return to some live action. I guess by keeping the 2 it was always a sensible progression to take it a step further than just filming another set of the 91-01 style and having the 2 as a cutout (ok, 'window' Very Happy ) is pretty good and gives lots of scope.

Two things could let this rebrand down. 1) the music. Mirror looks stunning from the picture to me but if the audio is just some bike noise then it's going to let it down. Similarly with Seascape - just crashing waves won't do it justice. And 2) the additional presentation material - slides, trail design, menus, whatever they may be they've got to be visually interesting. Remember the days where the slides used to contain part of the ident?

Nice to see the purple disappearing but shame about the box staying for me. There's nothing wrong with going back to the centre of the screen, boxless. It's going to make the "Northern Ireland" text look tiny.

Oh and I'll re-encode that Liquid News clip when I get some time. If only it was around today...!

Cheers, Asa
