People who said the 2 looks different are right, I looked at the press release and the 2 is in a slightly different font. Also some of the 14 idents may just be the same one but with different lengths, but I think some will be like tent with several different views before the camera pulls back to reveal the 2.
Can't wait for Sunday, surprised I haven't seen any in action. It might overtake Channel 4 for best idents. The only problem with the 4 is they should end on it rather than reveal it fleetingly.

I noticed that a dip was present in the new idents in comparison to the older idents. Stands out a mile and not sure if it is better or not until i see them on screen. I know earlier in the thread it was discussed but perhaps changing the shape is evolving it a little and may work out better.

That's true, but it's what separates us from them!
To be honest I never noticed until someone pointed it out.
I'm looking at the "2" on the BBCtwo website right now and comparing it to Sunroof and Magic Lantern, and I'm still not seeing it...

Just a quick comparison:
http://www.rp-networkservices.com/tvforum/uploads/old2vsbew2.jpg
You will notice that the new 2 is slightly thinner than the old 2 but I think in Seascape it is purely done for effect as a perfect 2 would look will, too perfect.
Tent would have been impossible to get it exactly right without it looking wrong.
I think the Mirror is just shown at angle so does not look completely right.
And the other 4, Sunroof, Chase, Zoetrope and Cappucino are bang on perfect.
I think we are getting our knickers in a twist because we've been used to CG and consequently perfect dimensions for 5 years now. Trust me, these idents will be more realistic as they look homemade which is usually more 'friendly' than CG. And we wont really see the idents properly until we see the video which will make or break them.
EDIT: Looking at my comparison again, its barely noticeable! Why are we so worried?

Was wondering how long it'd take. From the school of predictable, lazy journalism that brought you, "Are A-Levels getting easier?"...

Em, no, the new 2 is just that - a new 2. It's a bit thicker and fatter at the bottom, and the underside of the arch at the top is also slightly more pronounced. I presume the idea was to increase the area of the body of the 2 so that more can be seen when you look through it.
You'll notice it more when you see the other elements of the presentation package

The Sun has very little journalism. It can't be called a newspaper. I believe one TV Forumer called it a "comic" a while back, which fits the description perfectly.
And the 2s are the fruits of hundreds of people's labour, and immediately the tabloids pounce.
I wonder what the Daily Mail is saying?

There is a slight difference between idents - on Seascape, the hook of the 2 is more pronounced. But that hardly matters - the difference is very small and the 2 is essentially the same as it's been since 1991.
