BBC Two: new idents from Sunday 18 February

You're absolutely right Paul; the first image is not our distinctive '2' at all. I can only hope that this is down to the angle and that at some point during the sequence, we see the '2' as it should be.

Er, sorry, but it does. The '2' has a very unique and distinctive shape. That particular characteristic is of paramount importance in terms of the channel's branding.

So, which one do you think will be predominantly used for 'serious' programming?

I'm going with either Seascape or Sunroof.

Mirror might do quite well for the news when it moves from BBC1.

We have seen pictures of the idents but what will the music be like

The 7 new themes (14 idents) based on the idea of the figure 2 becoming an alternative "window on the world" are looking great from what has been shown so far. The new logo, colour scheme and ident compositions look fresh, exciting and dramatic.

The soundtracks to these new idents will make or break them. I have a feeling the music will be spot on!

I have to agree what some one else said:

it is back to the 90's I somehow don;t like them! it like I have seen them all before,

but I will give them a fair chance so I wait till there get broadcast/

Is it just me... or is Avenir also used by Marks & Spencers?

The casual viewer really will not notice whether the 2 is a slightly different shape or not.

The average viewer probably wouldn't even notice new idents unless pointed out...

They probably will this time though, the new ones are a lot less brighter than the usual yellow.
