Seems no-one has mentioned it yet (so it might just be me nitpicking), but it looks like the '2' has changed its shape across these idents...
Compared to the current figure, Mirror and Tent appear to have a 2 where the tip is curved downwards much steeper, and the Sunroof and Seascape 2's looks too thin. The one in Chase looks about the right shape though.
So on the idents at least, they don't seem to have kept the 2's proportions consistent, and I do find that rather odd; it makes more sense to keep it the same throughout, surely?
Anyways, will reserve complete judgment until I've seen and heard them in action.

Nice looking idents from the stills.
So it's a return to teal then (sorry, "deep aqua") which I thought suited the channel much better before the purple came in.
I do wish they didn't have to try to justify the idents with all that marketing babble and double-speak though. It really is only trying justifying a large bill at the end of the day which they couldn't by saying:
"....we changed back to the colour we had before, kept the logo, filmed some new scenes and modified the font in the box to such a minor extent that 99% of people won't notice..."

There is some variation between different incarnations of the 2 simply because of the way it's cut or constructed. With the 91-01 set there was always a little variation.

I noticed this as well but as has been said, there was a bit of variation in the 91-01 idents.
Three examples are:

It just depends on the scenario. In 'Seascape', for example, it would've been difficult to get the dimensions perfect in the wood. At the end of the day, its basically the same shape as it has been since 1991.

Well, sort of. But Gill Sans is the BBC's corporate and cross-channel font. It appears on those cross-channel promos. So each channel has its individual identity but there is a cross-channel universal font.

Which (if true) is the only day I'll be away from a computer this week...
We are not all untrustworthy. I find it a cheek you put that in brackets to make it sound like i am not to be trusted. My source was the BBC themselves as i called them to find out and they told me it would be released this morning. Which it has.
Very sorry - didn't mean it to sound like that - honest!
Managed to find a computer anyway - looks good...

No denying they look good - and probably an improvement on the current batch.
Must admit though I'm a bit disapointed though - not sure what I expected (well, something worse to be honest), but I thought there would be more developments in the ident rather than basically going back to the classic nineties idea.
Also keeping the logo in a box, even if it's in a nice new shade of green, seems a bit strange considering the recent BBC1 revamp too.

Is anyone worried that the idents will involve people too much? They will now become the last of the mainstream terrestrial idents to have people in them, and I just wonder why idents cannot be done graphically with colours, shapes and fancy effects rather than just plonking it in a surburban setting with people smiling in a really fake way.
