I will be sad to see the current set go as I think they are a good set of idents with brilliant soundtracks putting them as one of the best packages on television at the moment.

However, the BBC Two idents of the 90s still remain the best and the yellow background of the current set was a bit too much and arguably didn't make the idents as good as they could have been.

Hopefully we will get some full and nearly clean playouts of the idents this week including some of the rarer idents such as Drum and Fire Short, and Big Read Crowd.

My favourite three would have to be:
1. Invisible Walls - Simple yet effective animation with a fantastic soundtrack
2. Bounce Sombre - Powerful soundtrack which works well with the slow animation
3. Snowman - A good Christmassy ident with a nice animation.

I do have to acknowledge the use of Ice Cube though as I remember back in the summer of 2005 I suggested on the forum after a period of hot weather that Ice Cube be used during warm weather as that's when people use Ice Cubes the most. Then the next time there was hot weather out it came on our screens. I do like to take some credit out of its return though I will have probably had no influence whatsoever and it was merely a coincidence.

I can't think what will be in the new package though I have a feeling that people may appear in the idents.

I predict we may see something on the new look tomorrow seeing as it's a Monday

Wasnt it about the 14th November 2001, 4 days before launch, when we got to see a preview of this set? Does anyone know for sure, if you can remember that far back Wink
But in the year 2007 i would also expect something tomorrow.

I think keeping the '2' as white in all appearences was good, but a yellow background on all of them made them look samey.

Surely the fluttering 2s that started appearing on the website months ago are a possible clue? Maybe the yellow-less, purple "next" slides that have appeared in recent times are also a clue?

Could the new idents be:

The purple background of the current "next" slides, with loads of fluttering white 2s flying around, and a [ B ][ B ][ C ] two in the same central position and size as on BBC One?

Dont think the flappy 2's wil make it as,AMV BBDO have been comisioned to re-design the idents and the website?

the BBC Two Broadband site was designed by The Hive, while the new Channel Look, is by AMV BBDO.

I think we can rule out the 'bird' 2's becoming the new idents, as otherwise they probably wouldn't have already been featured on the channel -- but they have, including on the current yellow background, for ECPs; to promote certain websites, and this suggests it's there to represent the website only.

Does Asa still have that video of him on Liquid News previewing the yellow 2s? Could it be uploaded again?

I'd have thought they could come up with something more original.
