Yep, the BBC does like to be ambiguous about what's going to happen in future programmes, ident sets etc. For example, the BBC press release for the 2006 Doctor Who season said that the 'Doctor will battle... [assorted monsters go here] ...and maybe even a Dalek'. However, Russell T Davies vehemently denied the Daleks would make an appearance. But guess who made an appearance at the end of Episode 12? Four Daleks (including a Dalek Supreme), and countless more inside a dimensionally transcendental dome.
At least we have concrete evidence the 2 is staying.
