BBC Two: new idents from Sunday 18 February

Really nice montage on Youtube a few posts back.

Amazingly I don't remember the majority of those BBC2 idents - it seems that the same handful were shown in Wales over and over!

Some really great ones we missed out on!

ive neva seen the breakfast one, or the one where the floor breaks up or the one with the photo. wonder why we havnet seent them hear in wales?

The breakfast one (Fry), the floor one (Causeway), and the photo ones (?(Camera perhaps?)) are all exclusive to BBC TWO NI so everyone else doesnt get to see them. 'Fry' is a horrible excuse for a BBC2 ident but i quite like 'Causeway' and the photo ones.

There were two variants of the camera - but only the one I included with the photo of the fish ('Snap-Fish' ?) is being used. The unused version is 'Slemish' which should still be available on the respective idents video at the Lambie-Nairn website if you wish to see it.

Causeway (as in Giant's Causeway) is a lovely ident; and Fry is slightly odd compared to the rest of the set, but I wouldn't say I hate it.

New idents are rubbish, all of them, all channels.

Brng back the old ones, I say, good old animated ones, with a jingle and the CLOCK!

BRING BACK THE CLOCK.

Are you saying that every single ident since the clocks is absolutely crap and a waste of money and should never have updated?

That's a bit of an ignorant view in my opinion.

I agree. As I once said, a few of the current BBC2 ones are quite nice.

So they should have brought back the old howlaround titles and Derbyshire theme music on Doctor Who ? I don't think so. There's nothing wrong with changing idents, just as long as they're executed properly.

Anyway, back to BBC2... any idea on a date for the new package yet? I'm still sure it's going to be on the 16th. It's a Friday, so it may launch in the evening or on the next day... we won't know until the package launches.

I doubt it will be launching so soon (as in February). I would have thought that there are another few months out of the current package yet.
Unless of course anyone knows it's changing in February.

Yes. Did the 90's 2's look old to you when the announced they were being changed?
