And that is how the logo appears throughout; although a pity the gold doesn't actually animate, it's just a still logo.

Yes but as has been discussed in this thread they are doing a complete overhaul of "Big 2" next year so that explains why they haven't done a new one this year.

Although I do realise that never stopped them in the past.

I predict a new set of idents for January, possibly. Although I could be completely wrong

God, the guys at the BBC must have a laugh when they read emails that complain about idents. Hardly scrooge-like. It is afterall a Christmas ident. It's worthy of a repeat showing I think. It's attractive and has very nice, warm music.

Many Christmas idents have been worthy of repeats, but it still didn't happen.

Yes, it would be nicer if it could animate but I'm afraid we're pushing our 10-year-old graphics kit to the limit at the moment in BBC NI Presentation. We've asked Santa for some nice shiny new toys for our brand new transmission suites which will go into service in the summer.

These new TX suites, will they be HD-ready?

I'd much rather have a new BMX Wink Laughing

There's no present requirement for that but in future if that was required it wouldn't take all that much to switch them to that format.

I agree BBC One have made a new ident for Christmas but it would not be appropriate in my opinion for BBC TWO to spend money on a new ident this year when a new look is on the verge of being unveiled.

It is a far better use of licence fee money to repeat last years idents. This should ensure BBC TWO have a larger range of new idents when they launch.

It was my favourite BBC TWO Christmas ident in many years so I'm glad it's being used again.

It's miles better than that rubbish being used on BBC1!

Oh come off it, it's already been explained many times why BBC2 is reusing last years, it makes sense, what the point in spending more, when you've already spent a lot of money on the new package, and plus this is forgiveable because that ident was quite nice.
