I'm really hoping that BBC2's logo is the same style as BBC1's when it gets a new look. I do hate it when the two channels have different logos.
You must've
despised
BBC television in the '70s and '80s!
I also preferred it when the BBC channels had the same logo, but of course had very different looks, which is why my favourite era was the '90s, especially towards the end with the balloon, the 2, Choice idents, Knowledge idents and all the rest of them.
Hopefully it looks tidier, more cohesive and generally makes more sense!
Certainly does and hopefully even more so when the new idents turn up (with a return to the full name I'd guess). I suppose this also means analogue viewers will get to see the digital-only idents too.
Yes, the complete ident set is now in use on all platforms. It's actually the first time that we've had completely local branding on both channels.
The current top item would suggest last years xmas ident again
(not sure if this has been posted before, can't be bothered to look through 17 pages)
To be honest i'd be very surprised if they do have new Xmas idents with a whole new package coming soon in the New Year. BBC2 often seems to recylcle them and 2005's were new last year.
Presumably, the one guarantee is that the superimposed text will be in the centre of the screen approximately like this:
[ B ][ B ][ C ]
two
...if you see what I mean. (i.e. exactly like BBC One!)
It would perhaps be a bit daft having something as "focal point"-y as a figure of "2", in and ident where the text is utterly central (and therefore the text kind of
is
the focal point). Therefore, I wouldn't be surprised if the "2" is indeed going to be ditched.
I assume that BBC Three will be going for something utterly dissimilar to the current "orange blobs".
I hope that BBC Four sticks with the current 4-quarters split-screen, as they've not had it for all that long, and it's so good. Just replace the centralised black box with a
[ B ][ B ][ C ]
four
instead. Which means we'll be able to see the centre where the four seams meet, for the first time! And that there won't be all that "sliding around" at the start and end of trailers.
i hope they dont ditch the numerical '2'. 4's managed to keep its '4' since launch and look at wot their turning out now. Remember the last set of idents which had the
word
TWO as the focal point...
