BBC Two: new idents from Sunday 18 February

So here, yet again we have the situation where BBC1 and 2 will have contrasting and jarring pres styles.....just like last time

I loved Shadow and fibre optics

I'm really hoping that BBC2's logo is the same style as BBC1's when it gets a new look. I do hate it when the two channels have different logos.

Scary to think that was five years ago!

Having just looked at The TV Room I notice BBC Two NI is now branded as such throughout the day and referenced as "BBC Two Northern Ireland". Any reason for the change of policy?

The analogue and digital services were branded differently in a vain effort to allow people to distinguish between them. The difference was not as great as 2W and I doubt whether the average viewer noticed any of this.

From this week there is no need to distinguish between them as there will be no split programming. All BBC TWO output in Northern Ireland will now be branded locally and verbalised as "BBC TWO Northern Ireland" in line with the output of "BBC ONE Northern Ireland".

Hopefully it looks tidier, more cohesive and generally makes more sense!

Certainly does and hopefully even more so when the new idents turn up (with a return to the full name I'd guess). I suppose this also means analogue viewers will get to see the digital-only idents too.
