Like the red and blue boxes for BBC1 and 2 respectively

I'm pretty sure the BBC Two box is more purple than blue.

Who was the announcer on Network this morning going into Ceefax? It was a woman who I've not heard before though she sounded somewhat similar to Manju Mahli.

Didn't sound too familiar to me either, I don't know who it was; perhaps someone else here might.

BBC Two doesn't have any new font yet, unless you mean the current one which is all Gill Sans.

If you meant BBC One, then goodness knows why you posted it here! Best place would be Requests.

It is their variety in visuals and sound, that makes the previous lot seem timeless; and with the current yellow lot being considerably more samey (which has now led to them becoming stale), they show just how good the other ones were and still are.

Let's hope for better to come for BBC2 and while we do that let's remind ourselves of why we loved the earlier 2's so much.

The earlier (and best) 2's!!

Amen to that -- IMO, Lambie-Nairn's greatest success.

Let's not let the comparatively unflattering reception the dancers got, obscure the fact that L-N have the 2's, the balloon, and the original C4 blocks '4' under their belt.

It's quite sad that Red Bee haven't made anywhere near as big an impact, and have yet to equal the strength of concept we saw in those old 2's. I'd love to think they can be bettered; the closest to doing so has been Channel 4, but their current set just doesn't 'strike a chord' or resonate visually and aurally in the same way those bold 2's did.

When it comes to a Hall of Fame for idents Martin Lambie-Nairn's place is reserved and the fact that the '2' and the '4' are the same logos after all these years is testament to his genius and that of his company.

The 1991-2001 BBC2 idents

I never realised that there were so many! Howaver many are slight copies of others like the copper cut-out one there are a few graphic additions making a few idents using one base

I only recently worked out some were a spoof of other ones. I was too young to "get" irony when I first saw them.
