They remind me very much of the 1991-97 bumpers and trailers, except for one thing, the one thing that no channel sees - the old ones didn't really feature actual people in them! Even this one has someone featured prominently; the others were just of traffic lights, hair clippers and snooker balls, for example - no actual people were in them, which is what, I think, makes them better.

Those stings were great back then, the ones I remember most fondly where the velcro one (where the 2 stuck to walls & peeled itself off like velcro) & the motocycle 2 which rode off into the sunset.

Now if BBC 2's new set were like these, they would be great!

Agreed with both of you there; I certainly would love stings to return in a similar fashion to the '91 - '01 lot.

It's difficult to say what my favourites were; there were so many - I think the great thing about them was their variety of styles and the whacky scenes the 2 was part of. It gave the '2' a bit more life alongside the idents (of which the original ident set was particularly moody, so the stings were a nice compliment.

Ones I remember well were:

Eerie (the closing door one; nice little piano riff too)
Cliffhanger
the above mentioned Rip & Stick
Demolition (where the ball hits the 2 and crumbles)
Pounce
Ballet (2 spins on its point in front of a mirror)

I like the jellylike bouncing 2 along with the zebra, king kong spoof, basically I like the ones that debuted in Autumn 93 and most of the others.

Can someone in the know please explain why the old Predator (with new logo) ident was just shown before SUDO-Q?

I can understand why old ones were used for special events, but why this!

Haven't a clue. Although if the anno promoted an upcoming gardening programme during that ident, then that would make sense.

Maybe it's an admission that the yellow idents are dire?

I wonder if we'll see a few balloon idents on BBC1 soon? Laughing

Thanks BBC2, I enjoyed rushing home to catch the special ident before "Home", only for you to use Sticky Label!

Has anyone got video of last Tuesday's ident?

I'd just hope that they bring in a whole new set of 2's and just mix them up with a few older ones. It's just so weird how those original 2's seem so timeless and fresh even now whereas the Root 2's have become quite stale. Well they have to me anyway.

I was worried about Red Bee rebranding BBC1 but they have done some good idents like last year's Christmas 2. And it would be a pleasant surprise if the balloon did come back with some new idents as well as the old ones.

Oh well we can dream! Rolling Eyes
