I don't think the relaunch is on us just yet as I would expect some sort of 'leak' of information first (and we have had none) but coming shortly so a chance of airing long symbols and menus that are different to those normally seen before they are gone completely.

I'm liking these menus into idents - they are a great bit of presentation with nice accompanying music and are practical as well informing viewers about what's coming up. It also makes way for a long ident as well.

Did that self portrait menu lead into the ident or was it merely a still menu?

Yes, the menu lead right into the ident, as with Invisible Walls, with around 20 seconds of the ident played, shame about the mixer problem at the beginning.

More excellent stuff, this time from a certain Aaron Alexander Very Happy

So so far that's Invisible Walls and Self Portrait (and I vaguely remembering seeing a version of Formation once).

Self Portrait with Menu - 2.11mb

And nice closedown from Becky the other night but her script was begging out for a menu to be used!

Each of the integrated menus has 20" of menu followed by ident, except for one I edited down to 10"+ident.

Thank heavens for the nations! The Self-Portrait menu shows why Network were wrong to replace the original BBC TWO box with a translucent, overlaid version on most symbols (this happened when they removed the BBC2 URLs).

As a result, the paintbrush floats in mid-air through the purple box on Self-Portrait, and more disappointingly, the logo no longer vibrates on "Remote" when the 2 crashes into the screen.

Not to mention the network BBC TWO logo is dreadfully anti-aliased. Why has no-one ever corrected this?

Well, looking at the points you made there, I fail to see the logic behind why the logo was changed in the first place, let alone why the current one is as aliased as it is!

I would make a guess that the logo is of poor quality because it's been added from a capture rather than from a proper graphics device.

For each episode of Home, there appears to be a different sting and accompanying ident.

That don't look to bad actually.

I think if they do indeed do a new presentation pack they need to get away from this single colour, at least away from a colour like yellow.

Of course the 1991 set had set colours, but due to them been actual models look miles better. In my personal opinion CGI, when done cheaply just looks crap & the models far superior (look at Red Dwarf, even the majority of the cast on the DVD commentaries agree with this)

They remind me very much of the 1991-97 bumpers and trailers, except for one thing, the one thing that no channel sees - the old ones didn't really feature actual people in them! Even this one has someone featured prominently; the others were just of traffic lights, hair clippers and snooker balls, for example - no actual people were in them, which is what, I think, makes them better.

Those stings were great back then, the ones I remember most fondly where the velcro one (where the 2 stuck to walls & peeled itself off like velcro) & the motocycle 2 which rode off into the sunset.

Now if BBC 2's new set were like these, they would be great!
