Just switched over from I'm A Celeb and BBC Two are having major problems. Announcer was apologing for major technical problems. Everything went black, then we only had sound, a bit of a promo, then black again and only sound. It looks as if they've hot wired Room 101 onto air. Wonder what's been going on while the nation has been watching ITV1.
Well I expect this is related, but while watching Tetris: From Russia With Love on BBC Four, for about 30-45 seconds at about 9.50pm, BBC Two appeared on our screens! This was on DTT.
Just as they were saying what the original creator of Tetris did after 1990 or so
After Buzzcocks the screen was frozen on a picture of what looked like a red polo for a few minutes. The screen then went blank and Coupling attempted to come on screen. Frozen stills of Coupling, blank screens and a BBC2 apology caption kept flashing between each other on screen for a few minutes until Coupling finally appeared properly. This was happening on both Digital and analogue terrestrial.
The announcement at the end of Coupling did seem very serious...no "apologies about that, never mind, it's all over now". There may be more to come if it's that bad...
I was watching the Tetris programme on BBC Four and it suddenly started showing Coupling for around 20 seconds. I know I hadn't changed the channel cos the BBC Four dog was still present.
I saw the breakdown after Never Mind the Buzzcocks. Both BBC Two NI and BBC Two Scotland were on apology captions, whilst BBC 2W was doing its own thing. BBC Two NI recovered first joining Coupling, BBC Two England took a while to find both the vision and sound (the sound arrived first accompanied by a still, then disappeared, then vision and sound both returned), BBC Two Scotland were on an apology for quite a lot longer before they re-joined.
Did BBC Two NI manage to route the running server from London via their clean feed? They were definitely back with Coupling before England on DSat... (The BBC NI apology caption was also far better laid out than the seemingly identical - apart from the BBC Two box - Scotland and England versions. Whoever laid out the text on those needs some basic text layout advice - or Aston training)
