Interesting logic there, I never once saw it could be used that way as a Summer time/hot weather Ident -- but alas, it hasn't been shown lately.

Considering that the BBC TWO Snowman Ident was used when we last had heavy snowfall (which wasn't at Christmas time) I was wondering if anyone had seen the Ice Cube ident over the past week baring in mind that most people use ice cubes in the hot weather.

It isn't a Christmas ident. It's a Winter ident.
I always thought that these were just Christmas idents until I saw the BBC TWO Snowman ident going out in the middle of February (IIRC). Then again how come BBC ONE Snowflake wasn't used in the heavy snowfall - it would have made sense to have used both Snowman (BBC TWO) and Snowflake (BBC ONE).
On the topic of ident themes, is BBC TWO Big Read still going even though the Big Read finished ages ago? I'm sure I saw it at the last closedown.

Yes, indeed it (the version with six 2's) was shown into PFC. I guess it's not in 'mainstream' use as it were (if anyone has seen it into programmes lately, drop in a comment), but is suitable for Ceefax, which technically isn't a programme.
Maybe it's because Ceefax has pages, and so do books...

I never actually thought about that. On the whole is Ceefax introduced by the less used idents like Fire or Sticky Label Long or is it normally the usual ones (Formation, Logo Flip, Sticky Label Short)?

Well, Snowman may well be a winter ident. But in terms of a Christmas ident, it's had its heyday so I hope it isn't used this Christmas for the fourth year running.
