oops - a freeze frame from midnight mass appeared instead of ceefax - eventually replaced by a fault caption.

Anyone know why they are wheeling out the old Ceefax logo not really seen in operation since 1989/90

I think that is what is generated by the teletext generator when it looses the Ceefax data stream (or in the case of BBC2's TX Desk, when someone hasn't told it Pages From Ceefax is on, which is when it changes to the title screen). I know I've seen it on P100 before when they've been doing maintenance at Sandy Heath.

Grrr! Missing the Christmas Eve closedown was bad enough...but missing both the fault and a rare namecheck from Manju - unmentionable!

At the time of close last night I was expecting a proper goodnight & Merry Christmas but the following hiccup took me quite by surprise! Very Happy

This anno from Manju plus Becky Wright's one the other night have probably been the best so far this year on 2.

I do think last year's anno into the early hours of Christmas Day was rather good though, with the sleigh bells played at the end - nice touch was that.

Think I missed the sleigh bells one.

It does appear on-air when Ceefax goes wrong, but this is totally diffrent. Ceefax in-vision is provided by a teletext reciever and then goes down a line to presentation. The caption will be a slide put on at the beginning. It's not a fault status as it has text that announces the upcoming pages from ceefax

Thats fine... understandable but just wondering why they still use the retro Ceefax logo.

As asked by me in the requests forum, did anyone capture the BBC ONE handover to News 24 last night?

Probably because the guys running it know mainly people like us watch or listen to it!

Or maybe because Ceefax in vision's days are numbered so they're going for a bit of nostalgia
