bbc two domino ident

i don't know if anybody saw it but yesterday morning before ceefax bbc two showed the domino ident instead of the xmas 2000 ident.

why?!

Probably because they knew that sort of thing gets commented here and wanted to make some people on TV Forum happy.

The reason is the schedule is created using Material IDs and the Mat IDs of Domino and the Olympics symbol are very similar... and someone selected the wrong one!

Wondered if it was a mistake.

How ironic BBC2 has a bird theme...on the web at least. How long before MAFF orders its cull in the fight against bird flu...

It was shown 2 mornings in a row, in case you weren't aware. I thought it was some sort of start-up trend, but it's an apparent (double) error, as is now clear.

The Winter Olympics ID playout just an hour ago had a rather late announcement leading to a full play, with 16 seconds of it clean. Which was nice.

MAFF hasn't existed for about five years. It's DEFRA now...

Whatever they're called, it's the same incompetent bunch.

They did it again this morning...though not into Ceefax, but the following junction (CBeebies).

This cockup seems far too easy to make...can someone explain this whole business of Material IDs and what the similarity is between the Domino Short and Winter Olympics idents?

Each item has a material ID which tells the the automation system what to play. Domino Short is 2/08/LX/T. Winter Olympic is 2/08/TM/T. So yes, it is an easy mistake to make
