It's in Broadcast magazine too. Must have 10yrs experience already unfortunately. Very Happy

What's going on on the BBC tonight? BBC One holds on CBBC for ages then each of the trail end frames. The end of Neighbours had lots of fade to blacks - filling time? BBC Two with the same issue and then a ECP was set up for Radio 1 which popped up (eventually) at the end of The Simpsons. System failing tonight? Or being being too observant?!

Dated is the wrong thing to concentrate on about a programme, though. Yes, The Goodies has dated a bit; but it's still funny. Something that the absolutely modern and up-to-date TPOLAAPOC is not.

Sorry if I'm been an ignorant Cockney Ba*tard but what is TPOLAAPOC

Two Pints Of Lager And A Packet Of Crisps.

Which, incidentally, I find quite funny - I think it's unfairly written off by many people.

I think the new BBC2 controller needs to improve a few things in the schedules. For a start improve Saturday mornings. I think it's pointless showing four straight hours of news from 6am until 10am which is broadcasting at the same time as News 24. I would like to see an old early morning film back from 9am and show 'Saturday Kitchen' at 11am. Also, I would like to see the regular Saturday afternoon film back on a more permanent basis on a Saturday afternoon instead of four or five hours of 'Watching the Detectives'.
I also disagree with the amount of CBBC & CBeebies programming showing during the weekday mornings on BBC2. They need to reduce this schedule to say 3 hours a morning instead of 5 hours, making way for more 'Daytime on Two' programming or old films during the Bank Holidays & over the summer.

To be fair though to Jane Root, there has been a big increase in the screening of the Laurel & Hardy films. I remember BBC2 went through a phase in the mid to late 1990's when they didn't show any L&H films at all. But I think there needs to be more attention payed to film lovers like myself. Channel 4 for instance shows up to 4 or 5 films a day sometimes, as does Channel 5. BBC2 needs to keep it's afternoon film slot during the weekdays, possibly show two more films before The Learning Zone and at weekends show morning and afternoon/evenings films each week. I remember in 1997 and 1998 BBC2 used to show the old classic films every Saturday night at 9pm. I recall a number of great movies being shown at this slot around this time, I hope the new controller does something like this once in a while, as well as more themed nights.
