I saw that and I thought that the Ceefax slide was rather sharply put on, as though we were near the end of the ident, but it never occurred to me that it was the full version.

Yeah, if you look closely you could notice the ident had gone black during the fade to Ceefax - leaving just the purple logo to fade out.

Certainly a nice treat although his previous junction into News 24 was great too as there was around 13secs of clean audio. The music's not actually that bad when you get to hear more of it!

And Dan, is it just known as Generic or Christmas Generic / Christmas Comedy Stars etc..? It just seems like a vague name compared with the rest?

Point taken - I guess they just assumed it was obvious it was the Christmas one as it's the only one scheduled between now and the new year Smile

Isn't it technically "Winter Generic"? The Comic ones have no seasonal prefix...

Noooooooo! Never believe anything put on a clock by a "creative" without checking.

Today's bit of useless trivia for everyone: the 1979 Christmas special of To The Manor Born has a VT clock which says "'Merry Christmas' to Pres and VT".
I appreciated the thought from whatever post-production were called 26 years ago.

Thanks though I would have expected something a little different, such as Star, Shooting Star, Star Circle. Is the one with the shooting star Comic Boing or Comic Stars?

I'm fairly certain that one is Comic Boing. I think I saw the third one the other night and a star of sorts is made towards the start of the ident.

Presumably in lieu of having anything to contribue to Good King Memorex?

The music has grown on me!

Matthew Jackson with a slight pause towards the end of his announcement bidding us farewell; perhaps it was done on-the-fly, so to speak.

it's nice to know what the current Xmas idents are called, but it got me thinking...with the fact that these idents don't specifically refer to Xmas in their name, does that make it *ever-so-slightly* possible they could be kept for use on suitable occasions, other than Xmas?

Similarly, all of last year's Xmas set has seemingly now been discontinued...but we saw Ice Cube, which was originally an Xmas ident, during 2005's hot weather period; could it make an appearance same time around '06? And if we get heavy Snow fall, we could see Snow (the ident)?

Those 2 idents are in quite a weird position, as they are special idents, yet they aren't; rather than being selected based on programme content, the weather dictates if and when they show up.
