BBC Two Christmas Idents 2016

As I, possibly along with some others, are as interested in what BBC2 Network/Northern Ireland/Wales/Scotland are going to air this coming Christmas, as well as what BBC1 are going to air, I thought I'd create a similar thread for all speculation and news regarding BBC2 Christmas 2016 presentation.

What I want, would be a selection of the 1991-2000 Christmas idents, as that would match the current main presentation. I think they'll just reuse last year's though (which was the 2000, 2001, 2002, and 2011 idents), complete with that awful new soundtrack!

Yes, the BBC Two Christmas ident for 2016 has been leaked as well...

If anything I'd prefer that they went back to solely using the 2011 package. It was the only time of year that the presentation package was well produced with each piece working well together along with a lovely soundtrack.

Agreed. I was hoping they'd do that last year considering they're using the classic idents full time. The choice of idents wasn't that great. I like the 2011 one but I'm a bit sick of seeing it now. 2000 is nice enough but not that Christmassy to me; more generic winter. The 2001 & 2002 idents were of the yellow period and don't fit well now that yellow isn't a signature feature of the channel. The original music also wasn't very festive which is presumably why they opted to go with the whole "Two, two, two..." thing.

I'd like to see the 1992 Christmas tree back. It was simple and effective. The 1996 one was nice too.

The new soundtrack for the personality '2' Christmas idents felt like unceremonious assault on the ears. I'd expect the BBC to use the same Christmas idents for Two from last year.

The BBC themselves agree with this. It was reused for the Winter Olympics in 2006.

It seems very clear that the BBC Christmas ident launch will be this evening. BBC2 has begun using the Christmas endboards and Christmas branded boxed logo.

BBC TWO have put up their Christmas decorations.

Same old, same old. But it is a nice ident, no doubt about that. Oh well.
