Well, this was a surprise; I wasn't expecting anything new this year at all! Very good sequence, much more visually interesting than the previous years - my personal pick of these two versions would be the Sun/Moon. The first time I saw it, the resolved '2' also reminded me ever so slightly of Christmas 1991, which is not a bad thing at all.
The music is perhaps less interesting. Not a million miles away from the previous track in some ways, and it goes a bit OTT near the end! It's something I'd expect to hear in a Christmas fantasy movie soundtrack, but not sure it fits for a BBC2 symbol; a quirkier, more unique sound might have suited it better. As an example, that's something Christmas 1991 (esp the stings there) actually did quite well for its time.
But that is the only criticism I can think of, the music style. That doesn't take away from the fact that after 4 years this is a new ident, something of a Christmas miracle for BBC2. The design itself is great stuff, a lot more than I had hoped for. In conclusion: Hooray and well done!

What a treat! Compared to BBC One which is likely to get annoying quickly if not managed well, this could keep going for ages. It's bold, fits the theme nicely and most of all ... it's new! The music is seasonal without being too dramatic or too weird and suits BBC Two exceptionally well. A big congratulations to the people behind it. Fantastic!

It was going to be a hard job bettering what we had from BBC Two these past few years but I think it's been done. Beautiful visuals that have clearly had care and attention poured into them accompanied by a grand and typically sinister soundtrack.
