I don't think ANY breakdown music can be called "nice"! Wink

Not even "Jitterbug Jive" (Atmosphere ATMOS-CD57)? Once used on BBC1 and also Central Jobfinder.

I pray that BBC2 will not have a breakdown track commissioned next time they rebrand.

Well indeed, preferable to world peace and everything...

What happened on Sunday night illistrates perfectly why. The feed was lost for seven minutes and imagine having to endure BBC1's drone for that long! BBC2's music was nothing special, but at least the tune changed after a while.

Or even seven minutes of attack from Israeli helicopter gunships!

I believe the BBC1 effort is used in Guantanamo Bay...

As for BBC2 nations taking the network apology - BBC2 Scotland tends to take the network announcements and idents throughout the night, varying only for the odd promo and for the Newsnight announcement which is exactly the same every night.

I assume that BBC Scotland has one announcer for the two channels, and this is why this happens.

Unlikely, I would have thought.

As has been discussed in another thread, it might be possible to pre-record an announcement for when the junctions are at the same time on both channels, but it's damn hard to pre-record the network direction.

But if the extent of network direction is "opt back to London until Newsnight" then one person handling two channels could be feasible?

Not with two reactive channels.
