What intrigues me is this : RTE 2 seemed to be continuing to broadcast the Masters. If this is so, is there a reason why BBC can't patch into their video stream, if necessary removing the audio, or are the rights issues involved?

It was rather a lengthy break... I wouldn't be surprised if they were just about to load up a backup programme when they got the feed back!
What was it like in the nations? Different music I assume?

Scotland had a BBC caption from London (with no Scotland in the logo). Not sure about music though.

ED
as are all other channels who were covering it.
I have said that the BBC are transmitting and producing (i.e. editing the international and national feed) it themselves from Augusta, might be the satellite uplink they (the BBC, international feed is somewhere else) are using to broadcast it to Television Centre. If that was the case, to broadcast the international feed in the production facility in Augusta would be pointless as the satellite uplink is broken.
They could use the international feed that RTE and all other countries, but the BBC tend to produce and edit it direct from Augusta for some reason.

Well if you had what looked like a caption from London - and an announcer who sounded like the announcer in this clip then you had a network apology from Matthew Jackson...
So what did Wales and NI get?

Got the same in NI. Sometimes its better to just let the network presenter/director deal with breakdowns as when a breakdown DOES occur, very little info is relayed to the nations. They're too busy trying to
fix
a problem rather than explain to everyone when and how they're going back to a programme.
As for that music Telefis, what planet are you on man? It was the usual bland breakdown music. I don't think ANY breakdown music can be called "nice"!

Well at least it wasn't that stupid BBC ONE Daytime music being looped over and over again - and it wasn't the music that always used to be played as in this clip!
By the way... I've looked at the fault again as I got it on Sky+ in total it lasted for about 7 minutes (from the time the picture froze to the time they got back to it)... at what point would the people in pres start running around looking for a suitable filler programme?

TV
Not even "Jitterbug Jive" (Atmosphere ATMOS-CD57)? Once used on BBC1 and also Central Jobfinder.
I pray that BBC2 will not have a breakdown track commissioned next time they rebrand.
