If we can talk about the latest minor change to the GMB set, we can talk about the minor changes made to the BBC Two logo.
Nine years later though?
There are much bigger problems with BBC2's presentation than the shape of the 2. Its programming is the best it has been for years but it is stuck with garish graphics and 25 year old idents. The presentation should be reflecting the channel of today, not the channel of a quarter of a century ago.
To be fair, only one of the idents broadcast is from the original 25 year old set. Most of the idents are from the 1997 rebrand onwards, so technically they are not even 20 years old yet (only just).

This.
I wouldn't be surprised if we see a 1991-style rebrand encompassing One, Two and Four all at the same time at some point soon. Surely from a financial angle it makes sense. Yes, there maybe an 'if it ain't broke don't fix it attitude' from some, but that's not a reason to not evolve something. You can evolve a theme, BBC News is a fine example of this and has had at least two refreshes in the last 10 years.
Am I right in thinking that Charlotte Moore will soon become the controller of all BBC Television, not just BBC One? I suppose once that post officially begins, we may start to see some changes happen. Bare in mind there's also the new BBC Creative department which is supposed to (according to various articles on the Internet) oversee and create branding for the channels, so the cost of creating new idents for One, Two and Four would be cheaper than outsourcing it to Lambie Nairn etc.

Moore has taken over BBC Television after the BBC Two controller post was removed - but at this point you'd expect One to have a full refresh.
When ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5 have changed up their presentation in the past five years, but BBC One hasn't, it's telling that the BBC are falling behind in regards to presentation. However a grain of salt should be taken, given how dire BBC Three (despite only being used for a month) and CBBC's current presentation is.
As far as I understand it Charlotte Moore is in control of BBC TV and iPlayer, However there is an editor of BBC 2 and BBC 4. The editors have to report back to Charlotte as the brief is her vision.
I really excited to see what BBC Creative make. Should just say BBC 3 and CBBC presentations were made by RED BEE Creative under contract deal with the BBC which has now come to an end.
There is some great people at BBC Creative. I forgot the names of the two people who moved over to the BBC but they were responsible for John Lewis 'The bear and the hare' adverts. If they are aloud to be on that level then we could be in for a treat. That's if they have been commissioned (by Charlotte) to make new idents.
I don't think they stopping outsourcing on big budgets but they trying to keep in house. I think the main reason is not paying over the odds to make a simple trailer saying go to iPlayer.
my only concern about an 'in house' rebrand is that, given the current track record of what goes out on the bbc, it will be shіte.
those dragons den idents look like somebody dusted off an amiga and spent an entire friday afternoon working on them ... and the less said about the wimbledon ident, the better.
i just think the days of the bbc taking any pride in how they look by delivering great unified presentation, are, unfortunately, well behind us. the whole family of channels is a complete and utter mess.
bbc one, supposedly the top entertainment channel in the uk has been using the same crusty idents for almost a decade, the end caps, ecps and all the other bits just look like they've been knocked up in powerpoint and quite frankly, never looked great.
i think when the bbc does decide to rebrand, we're all going to all be painfully disappointed.
Most of what we have seen on tv over the last few years have been made by RED BEE Creative not BBC Creative. The point I was trying to make is we may see a change. *Lives in hope* Let the creative people do there job and suits stay away! Soon as the guy in the suit starts giving his opinion then thats when it all F's up!
made by red bee creative or not, some big cheese at the bbc ultimately signed off the dross we see on our screens today and red bee's own portfolio shows they are in fact capable of great design.
bbc creative are untested and will probably be working on a shoestring under a completely different set of pressures. i like you, live in hope they will be able to create great things, the bar is low, so they've got a head start.... but i think hoping we'll see something with high production values such as the 1991 BBC 2 set, or the 1997 balloons.. well... i think, we'll be disappointed. even at christmas where the bbc have traditionally made a real effort, the last few years haven't been great (showtime, anyone?).
i've not seen anything on any channel on the bbc to suggest the bbc have upped their game as far as presentation (or indeed, even consistency with that they have).

At least BBC Two has brought back its 1990s idents, but unfortunately aspects of the presentation used are tired, like the endboard.
DQF cuts have caused Two to fall back on new pres, and Four still uses the pres package introduced in 2005, with good idents to boot. One really needs to have a full refresh - the circles after ten years are bloody tired, and its competitors have jumped the shark on new pres packages in the last five years.
I suppose that the first hint on new presentation will be given by Moore - but with DQF cuts still continuing, it's hard to say whether One will get a new package or have no choice but to use old idents - the most likely of these being the Balloon.

Depends, aren't the people who make up the new 'BBC Creative' just those that have been insourced from Red Bee/Ericsson?

I never really noticed the difference until now! wow!
Prefer the one on the left.
I never liked the Window on the world idents and I hated the Yellow idents. Always loved the current 90's idents.
