I always feel Aerial would have been so much better had they used a real model.

What makes you say the Aerial "2" was computer generated, is there a source for this? Never assumed it was anything other than a physical model.

I always thought it was a fun idea that made for a good generic/general ident. Fab music too if you find the full version.

I wonder if Aerial's analogue style picture break-up was considered inappropriate in the digital TV era.

Perhaps it could be re-edited with some blocky interference added instead. Wink

I have no problem with Silk with a white logo. I'd be delighted to see others return with the same treatment.

...but even in Aerial's analogue days of usage, the technology of the time was still too advanced because a 'V' shaped aerial (which is what is on top of the 2) is for picking up 405-line transmissions, is it not?

Here. I've just knocked up a version where the white boxed logo is a little smaller and further over to the right-hand side of the screen. If they must use the boxed, uncentralized logo, surely this would be a slight improvement, even if nowhere near as good as NI's logo, in my opinion.

Completely agree. This looks much better than the Network execution. I'm not a huge fan of NI's centred, boxless logo either - although it is better than what Network has done. The more substantial 1997 - 2001 logo worked - that boxless version of the current logo is too small and insignificant looking.

Poundland sells a V shaped aerial. Works a treat.

...yeah, but they always sell things that are dated, don't they Laughing

I quite like Aerial too, quirky soundtrack it has.

One of the best soundtracks of the set IMO alongside Silk and Steam.

Replace the text with a BBC logo and maybe add a few more swimmers and there's a new ident right there.
