Yes, I do realize part of my reply is a standard generic response, but are you suggesting they've read my request and taken no notice of it whatsoever? I'd disagree with that.
Ahh. The TV duty office version of
'thank you for your application, and we will keep your details on file, and contact you should an opportunity arise'
Seriously, there are loads of things I remember watching from the past that I would love to see again (occasionally they turn up on You Tube) but, I wouldn't even think about wasting my time (and the broadcasters) asking for it to be shown again.
I know the response I'd get back, and just how 'hollow' that reply back actually was.
Even the logical requests get the same insincere treatment. I asked UKTV if they planned on showing the first series of Bob Monkhouse On The Spot after they'd aired the second shortly beforehand. I figured it was a request worth making, but alas, "we'll pass it on" etc.

I requested a repeat showing of the BBC 1997 adaptation of 'The Phoenix and the Carpet' around 10 years ago. I thought at the time that I was just wasting my time but, low and behold, it was shown on BBC Four within a couple of months. With my judgement influenced to some degree by this experience, I think it's always worth asking, however unlikely it may be to actually happen.

Did the CA say "And that was specially for D.Page of TV Forum, we hope you enjoyed it"?
Also D.Page, if you're going to send me a PM calling me a "cretin", don't expect me to keep an eye on the schedules for you
DP
D.Page
^ I wouldn't dream of it. Probably too difficult a task for you
First of all, you give kudos to people who think communicating a request is a waste of time, then you indicate that, perhaps, it isn't such an outlandish thing to happen after all, by saying
"don't expect me to keep an eye on the schedules for you"
. You have to admire consistency!
There's quite a few RTPs on this topic, some being called grossly offensive... I can't say I can find them.. If people disagree with you move on, we all have our opinions, some agree some disagree, thats the internet.
A couple of letters from recent Radio Times on the BBC One/Two idents. Certainly sounds like the mix of old and new is staying for the foreseeable future. It's just a little bit of a shame that the quality of the new ones isn't quite up to the same standard.
