Apart from a handful of people here people won't notice the shape at all.
Really wish though they'd just commissioned a set of eight or so in the 90s style rather than continue using the odd one and throw in a new one every six months (which tends to be used for a few weeks then disposed of).

but in these cash-strapped times for the BBC, they're never going to spend the required amount of money on any new '90s style idents' that would sit with the original set and have comparable quality, both in terms of concept and execution.
Here's the new BBC2 Dragons' Den (2016 Series) ident.

They should make that the standard on all the idents, like NI already does. After all, they were designed for a centered logo.

A couple of '90s idents I have reconstructed, for anyone who enjoys viewing these gems in high quality, in their original full length, and with clean audio (feel free to leave a 'like', if you like them!).

I got a huge surprise whilst I was watching BBC TWO HD the other night and seen a horrible BBC Two box on the ident and I realized that the HD version of BBC Two is the network version and not my local NI region.
I reckon they regret leaving the box in - but it's probably too much trouble to redo them now.
I wish Network would bring back Paint. The Paint can spoof is more effective when you see what it's spoofing. The people in charge of Network continuity need to be locked in a cupboard. We can sort it all out.
No chance of a few more of the set flagships such as Wave, Optics or Ariel joining network like Silk did? I can't understand the Paint Pot beating the original splash to Network airtime at all, Paint is much better and probably one of the most famous TV idents in the world...

This has been mentioned many times but just to recap, apparently the BBC concluded that only a small selection are good enough for upscaling to HD.
Even if this is how they feel, I don't see any real harm in airing a few others just now and then, like they have with Paint, Neon and Copper Cut Out.

Not sure if this was ever confirmed or just speculation? An insider certainly did confirm that they wanted idents where the '2' figure was active and moving, which excludes the majority of the early ones and some of the later ones.
But that policy was seemingly relented with the reintroduction of "Silk", which also calls into question the "not fit for HD" assumption. Have you
seen
the fuzzy state of the next menu slides that are apparently deemed acceptable? Their unfortunately zoomed and stretched proportions mean they are broadcast in far more unflattering state than the idents would be.
I dont believe either theory's were confirmed but I'd head heard the welcome return of Silk was down to the lack of a "neutral" ident in the existing selection. The HD bit is also a bit neither hear nor there because surely if the 1991 Silk is suitable then idents from later on in the set such as Ariel or Wave would be too. Neon, Paint and Copper have had Network outings for afternoon classics too.
