Apparently, 12th July is annual 'Cow Appreciation Day'. Any chance that BBC2 will dig out this 90s sting and give it an airing on this special day for cows (...can't believe I'm saying this)?
The irony of BBC Two celebrating something being on-brand is quite something.

A techical issue on BBC2 NI in the junction leading into The Daily Politics today meant that there was a clean 19" playout of Paint Pot mid-junction and a
Network
playout of said ident immediately before TDP.

BBC2 'Duck Surface' and 'Duck Periscope' stings joined back together again ...like they should be!
I slightly edited the audio at the point were the two stings join in order to conceal a slight audio glitch that would be present otherwise. The two stings were aired concurrently on BBC2 NI during one junction in May 2016.

Yep, but bound to be to the same kind of standard as the recent China Season ident, and so not anything to get excited about really is it.

Thats just strange. We never got Robot wars ident.... we got Drangons DEN ident, in Scotland.
Same one as on network I think - looks like a bit of a combo one really.

...same on Network, NI and Wales. Something very surprising is the use of the centralized boxless logo used on Network and Wales, as well as NI. Now, if Netowrk and Wales amended the 1991-2001 idents with the same respective logos, that would be very welcome.
It's a shame they keep using the 2007 "2" shape, it's so sharp and ugly. They got it right for the 50 Years anniversary idents and then brought the old 2s back full time, this shouldn't be an issue.
Nods to idents past and present: Dog, Balloon, Woodpeacker, Car and Sign/Neon all feature.
But yes, a Robot Wars themed ident was specifically mentioned in the Broadcast article so not sure what's happened there.
